Placing a Caller On Hold
While on an active call, you may place a caller on HOLD or on PARK depending on your call handling needs. Pressing the hold button on your desk phone, desk top app, or on your mobile softphone app will place the caller on hold on your device only. A call placed on hold using the Hold button or Softkey, can't be retrieved from another extension or device. In the Voradian telecommunication platform a HOLD feature functions as a local hold on your device only, and it is distinctly different from Call PARK. You can re-engage the caller placed on HOLD by pressing Resume, Hold, or the Line Key.
To place a caller on Hold to be retrieved from another extension or device, you must use the PARK feature, labeled as PARK 1, PARK 2, PARK 3, etc., on your desk top phone, desk top app, or mobile softphone app. You may also park a call directly into a park orbit (directed parking) using the park orbit number, or dynamically park (Auto Park) a call by pressing the star (*) key three times. In the case of auto park, the system will announce the park orbit number from which the call can be retrieved later from any other phone set within your organization. The auto park feature is useful when your pre-programmed PARK lines are unavailable.
