Call Parking (place calls on hold and pick up anywhere)

Solution

Call Parking / Call Park

Call Parking or Call Park is a feature on VORADIAN telecommunications platform that allows a call to be placed on hold at one telephone set and continue the conversation from any other telephone set with in your organization by retrieving the call from the park orbit. [Call PARK is distinctively different from Call HOLD]

The “call park” feature is activated by pressing a pre-programmed button (usually labeled “Auto Park” or "Park 1, Park 2, etc.") on a desk top device. This transfers the current telephone conversation to an extension known as a Call Park Orbit with in the internal system and immediately puts the conversation on hold. This is called parking the call. Callers placed into a park orbit will hear Music/Message on Hold until the call is retrieved.

Once a caller has been parked, a PARK BLF line key on all the phones with in your organization that are programmed with "PARK" for Call Park will flash to let other users know that the park orbit is occupied. Any user may retrieve the caller from the park orbit by pressing the flashing PARK BLF line key.

Definitions. How does it work?

There are three (3) types of call parking orbits supported on the VORADIAN system. They are: Auto Call Parking, Directed Call Parking, and Ring-back Call Parking. The Auto Park and Ringback Park are programmed on a desk phone using the BLF Line Key. Parking orbits are uniquely programmed by VORADIAN engineers for each customer during system set-up and service activation.

Auto Park: In this scenario, the person that performs the park will press the BLF Line Key that's marked "Auto Park". The system will then automatically transfer the caller to any available auto park orbit, provided that Auto Park is pre-programmed for your phone system/service. (the parker does not need to know the location of the orbit or if orbit is available). After receiving the DTMF signal from the Auto Park BLF Line Key, the system will announce the auto park orbit location. Using the system generated orbit location, the call can be retrieved from any other desk phone with in your organization. Auto park orbit numbers varies in range and it is critical to listen carefully and remember the orbit number in order to retrieve call later. To retrieve the call, simply pick up the handset on any desk phone and dial the orbit number where the caller was auto parked.

Directed Park: This is the traditional call parking feature where the person that performs the park simply transfers the caller to a Call Park Orbit. The orbit (also called a park queue) must be pre-existing and must be vacant in order for the parking attempt to work. Directed park range is usually from 710 - 719. Simply press the "transfer" key on your desk phone and dial any one of the orbit number ranging from 710 - 719, and press "transfer" again. The caller will be parked on the orbit you have dialed. To retrieve the call, simply pick up the handset on any desk phone and dial the orbit number where the caller is parked.

Ringback Park: When a caller is parked in the Ringback parking orbit for a specified amount of time (time is programmed by Voradian engineers - generally 30 - 45 seconds. More or less time can be programmed upon request), it is possible for the system to return the caller (Ringback) back to the original person who parked the call. To activate the Ringback park feature, simply place the caller on Park by pressing the BLF Line Key that's labeled PARK, (Park 1, Park 2, Park 3, etc,) on your desk phone. To retrieve the call, simply pick up the handset or press the speaker phone on any desk phone and press the PARK BLF Line Key tha's flashing a red light.
