User Extensions

Introduction to User Extensions and Capabilities

Voradian offers four standard end-user extension configurations that varies in functionality and monthly recurring cost. While there are many more distinctively unique and customizable extension configuration capabilities available, the following article explains the four standard extension configurations and its unique use capabilities.

Directed Extension (DIREX)

A directed extension is a dedicated extension associated with an individual device such as a desktop phone or softphone or both. It enables the end-user to have access to all the features we offer, including individual voice mail, make and receive calls, extension-to-extension dialing, station-to-station paging, grouped into a ring group/ hunt group/ department, enable mobile capabilities, and much more. It also allows the end-user the ability to have a dedicated DID (telephone number) that connects directly to the device or devices, and enables a caller to dial a ten (10) digit phone number to connect to you, bypassing the PBX and Auto Attendant system.

Dynamic Hub (DYNEX HUB)

A dynamic extension or Hub is a single extension like configuration that's shared by multiple non-dedicated devices (Direx) that are desktop phones only. It enables the end-user to have access to limited number of features and allows inbound calls to simultaneously ring all desktop phones associated with the DYNEX HUB. Up to Twenty (20) desktop devices (phones) can be enabled within one (1) DYNEX. Anyone in the DYNEX HUB can make or answer calls from their individual desk phones, while remaining desk phones are available to receive and make the calls. Since our phone system platform provides automatic line selection and multi-channel calling capabilities, your outbound and inbound calls are not restricted by one call per DYNEX HUB - you can make or receive up to 40 active calls simultaneously (two call sessions per device at a time). An active call on one device leaves the remaining devices within the DYNEX HUB to receive and make simultaneous calls. With DYNEX HUB, no individual voicemail, or softphone for mobility are available. One central/ general voicemail box is included. Each device is allowed two (2) concurrent calls.

DYNEX HUB is generally great for a department group such as tech support, customer service, inside sales, etc. where a caller selects the routing by pressing a menu option from the main PBX Auto Attendant. For example: Caller is given the menu choice for: Sales Press 1, Support Press 2, Billing Press 3, etc., and that choice can be routed to a DYNEX HUB where multiple employees are available to answer incoming calls within a department or group.

The main advantage of DYNEX HUB is lower monthly cost. It also allows dynamic answering of incoming calls to a service group or department where no individual voicemail or mobile capabilities are required. DYNEX HUB allows for better and faster customer engagement. There are various ways to customize DYNEX HUB. Contact a VORADIAN telephony consultant to discuss your unique needs and requirements, and we’ll create the perfect solution for your business.

NOTE: DYNEX HUB is NOT a Ring Group, Hunt Group or Queue Group, which are vastly different in configuration, usability and functionality.

Dynamic Virtual Extension (DVE)

A Dynamic Virtual Extension (DVE) extends the capability of dynamic hub (Dynex Hub) by adding an individual extension number for each device associated with the Dynex Hub, allowing callers to reach individual users directly on their device by dialing their extension number. DVE gives you more customizable capabilities including automatic call distribution via ACD queuing, grouping, mobile forwards, CRM and Apps integration and more. Speak with a Voradian sales engineer about your unique needs and application.

Mobile Dynamic Extension (MODEX)

A Mobile Dynamic Extension is an independant stand-alone mobile extension that can be associated with a Dynamic Hub (DYNEX HUB). It does not directly associate with any specific hardware device, and is capable of having full feature sets including independant enterprise voicemail like the DIREX extension. It allows a caller to dial an extension number and be routed to connect with the MODEX. A direct phone number or DID can also be configured to connect with MODEX.
