Video Calls on SIP Phones

Solution

Video calls with a Yealink T58V, Polycom VVX 1500 or phones

You can perform video calls with certain video enabled SIP phones made on the Voradian Network. (On-Net Calls). Audio will be proxied thru our switch but the video is peer to peer.

Typically, video calls will NOT work thru the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) because majority of the carriers will reject the call if video codec is found in the SDP body. For this reason, we use best effort to strip these codecs before leaving our Network towards the PSTN.

Keep in mind that video calls require a significant amount of Bandwidth on both sides of the call. If you intend to use Video calling outside of your LAN, (Local Area Network) make sure you have the bandwidth requirements to support video calls.

We highly recommend that you add or subscribe to Voradian conferencing service to your account if you intend to perform regular on-net and or off-net video conference at your organization. Our video conferencing solution removes the barriers otherwise placed on PSTN networks.
